Letter to Principals: P-10 Languages in Western Australian

Western Australian school principals have been have sent a letter of clarification regarding the provision of P-10 Languages education in Western Australian schools. The letter from Chair, Patrick Garnett, and Chief Executive Officer, Allan Blagaich of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, sets out the timeline for implementation of the P-10 Languages syllabuses as part of the Western Australian Curriculum Outline, commencing in 2018 and also states the minimum provision that schools must offer in terms of Languages education.     It is a pity that it isn’t mandated from an earlier age and that it’s not until 2018. But I think it is easier than before to see that Languages are a compulsory Learning Area and it will be interesting to see how schools react to this. I look forward to hearing more.
