I hope you’ve had a great Term 1 at schools. The MLTAWA Committee has kept itself busy supporting the organisation of the AFMLTA Conference and organising events for the year. All dates for our various events have now been entered in the MLTAWA Calendar.

We have some exciting opportunities to share with you all so please make sure to read the various posts in the newsletter.

MLTAWA Sundowner
|
The MLTAWA will be holding a Sundowner on Thursday, May 4th , details of the venue will be coming up soon. This event is an excellent opportunity for networking with other language teachers across all sectors in Perth. Attendees will have the chance to win a ticket to attend the AFMLTA conference valued at $675!! More details about the AFMLTA conference can be accessed HERE.

What is your favourite thing about teaching a language? I love the inventive ways you can use to make learning a language fun and interesting. I also love it when you see progress in your students.
|
|
What advice would you give your younger self who is just starting out teaching? Don't be so worried about trying to get each lesson perfect - it's a journey and enjoy the ride.
|
|
Why did you become a language teacher? I enjoy teaching and I love learning languages. At the time, I had just graduated with a DipEd and I was learning Chinese, so I married the two.
|

thisislanguage.com is an award-winning modern language platform used by over 20,000 teachers worldwide. They are now recruiting language teachers (or former language teachers) to represent their authentic language video platform in person at the AFMLTA Conference 2023 from the 7th-9th July in Perth.
This would be a fantastic opportunity for successful applicants to have all travel and accommodation costs covered, as well as receive professional development ahead of the conference.

The AFMLTA Executive Committee has been busy making arrangements for the 24th AFMLTA International Languages Conference to be held in Perth. We look forward to further submissions for proposals to present and to welcoming many of you to this valuable learning and networking opportunity on 7-9 July.
|
|
As a member of the MLTA/LTA in your state or territory you are represented nationally by AFMLTA through vision, leadership, representation, advocacy, professional learning and support for quality teaching and learning of languages.
