The LTWA Speaking My Language Contest is an educational event organised by members of the Languages Teachers Western Australia. The objective of the contest is to foster and nurture the appreciation of languages and culture. This competition is open to students whose Languages teacher is a current financial member of LTWA.

Date:  Entries and registrations open on Monday 21 July and close at 11:59pm on Sunday 24 August 2025. No late entries will be accepted. 

Venue: Online (Register and submit via link below) 

Divisions: Language Convenors may change the divisions available subject to numbers at their discretion. Students who are currently participating in an immersion program/are background speakers may enter the contest but must do so in the division above their current year level (e.g. if a student is studying Chinese immersion in Year 4, they must compete in the Year 5 competition). Students will enter under their school’s name but must not wear the uniform of their school (to allow for blind judging). The number of competitors is limited to 3 entrants per division from each school. Divisions of the contest are as listed below:  

Year 4  
Year 5  
Year 6  

Results  

Participating teachers conduct the competition within their school and determine three winners per year level that has undertaken the competition. Prizes will be awarded to each winner selected by the teacher.
