A report was commissioned in 2014 by the Australian Government, Department of Education and Training regarding Languages study in Senior Secondary schooling. It was finalised in October 2014 and published on 14 April 2016. The report gives a detailed review of Languages study and makes four sets of recommendations.

This report is part of the Australian Government’s efforts to revive the teaching of languages to ensure that at least 40 per cent of Year 12 students study a language in addition to English within a decade. Its purpose is to inform all Australian governments on practical, implementable ways to enable this.
