2026 Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition

Dear School Principals and Chinese Language Teachers,

The Australia China Friendship Society WA (ACFS WA) warmly invites Western Australian secondary schools to participate in the 2026 Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition.

The Chinese Bridge Competition is a prestigious international platform that encourages students to learn Chinese language and experience Chinese culture.

Eligibility:

• Students aged 12–18

• Non-native Chinese speakers

• Enrolled in WA secondary schools

Competition Format:

1. Chinese Knowledge Test

2. Chinese Speech (2–3 minutes)

3. Chinese Cultural Talent Performance (3 minutes)

Key Dates:

• School nomination deadline: 19th April 2026

• Video submission deadline: 26th April 2026

• WA Final Competition: 17th May 2026

Each school may nominate up to two students.

— NEW INITIATIVES FOR 2026 —

Teacher Ambassador Program:

We are introducing a Teacher Ambassador Program to recognise and support Chinese language teachers.

Participating teachers will:

• Receive official appreciation letters for both teachers and schools

• Receive a formal token of appreciation in recognition of their contribution

• Be invited to teacher online workshops if needed. 

• Be recognized at an official Consulate event (subject to confirmation)

Student Opportunities:

• Participants will have the opportunity to:

•  Be considered for participation in China study tours / exchange programs  • Attend a special reception hosted by the Chinese Consulate

Audience Engagement & Recognition 

To create a vibrant event atmosphere, we will introduce:

• “Support Team Award” – encouraging students to invite classmates and families

• Audience prizes (e.g. Themed OR cultural gifts)

• Chinese Film Week tickets

• Interactive activities during the event

We strongly encourage schools to:

• Actively promote the event to students

• Support student participation

• Assist with video submissions and preparation
